AIMS OF COURSE:
To provide course attendees with the required skills to enable them to protect themselves from sharps injuries and to be deal with sharps injuries.
Content of Course:
- Legislation
- Syringes and their components
- Hazards associated with collection of syringes – Biological, Physical and Psychosocial
- Risk Assessment and Procedures for the activity
- PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
- Prevention of infection
- Measures to take if injury occurs
- Safe disposal procedures
- Practical use of associated equipment
